What’s a HackU?
Hack, Hacking, Hacker? whats going on?
A basic question usually being asked by non-familiar guys with Hack Day.
Am I going to learn some hacking techniques to hack -for example- a bank site >:)
Well, the answer is unfortunately NO, this is not what we are talking about!
HackU is a program managed and run by Yahoo! Developer Network all over the world where a certain university’s students gathered to join Yahoo! web experts for couple of days of learning, hacking and fun! in which they hear interesting tech talks, hacking tips and lessons, and get hands-on coding workshops with Yahoo! engineers to work on cutting-edge technologies. A competition usually follow where participants are required to submit a Hack: (simple implementation of an idea, a proof of concept or a full presentation that shows their idea) in which a committee will be there to judge and select the winners. Moreover, the competition last for a full 24 hours day/night of coding, all participants will be fueled by Food and Caffeine to live the experience that every professional developer already had.
There’s no rules or limitations, just show up and hack for your opportunity to win cool prizes. This is your shot to develop something that will revolutionize the industry, make the world a better place or at least make the judges laugh (trust us, that goes a long way!). read more.
